Okay..well the blog has gotten off to a slow start, but it is time to step it up a bit...
Left Hong Kong last week and flew to San Francisco...On Loretta's List was a few days in the wine country and a day in down town San Francisco. I used to live in SF in the 80's...thought it was the coolest city on earth...it still is a cool city, but now when I talk to the younger generation (20-somethings) they think Asia has all the cool places...
A thought..when I was a kid, the US cites were clean modern and had all the newest technology...Apple and Microsoft were still operating in garages and fine dining didn't include eating with chopsticks and ordering raw fish...Now as I look around California, the cities are falling apart, the traffic is slow, the bridges are always backed up...the cable cars are old and not efficient and it costs $5...yes $5 USD to ride a mile or two on the cable car and $6 USD to cross the Golden Gate...In Hong Kong, the trains are clean, run on time and can criss-cross the island in just minutes...all for less, far less, than just one US dollar. WOW! And...our taxes in the US are more than double Hong Kong taxes! Think we get what we pay for???
Still...the wine was better in California....
